First blog post

So here it is...my first ever post in my first ever blog!

So - who am I and what do I do? I am the librarian at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge and have been in post for almost 11 years. I am a solo librarian - although I do get some assistance from other members of staff on an ad-hoc basis. The library is a small, specialist research library that serves the needs of visiting scholars in the mathematical sciences.

I am taking part in CPD 23 things because I hope to learn a lot about myself in the next 15 weeks and also learn from colleagues in the library world.

I am really looking forward to investigating the 23 things with the weekly structure. I know from experience that unless I have targets and schedules for researching topics then it will probably not get done!
I am a bit worried that I might not have enough to say to keep this blog worth reading - but I'm ready to give it a try!

  2. Ook indeed :)

Glad you're taking part in CPD23, I'm browsing through the *massive* list of blogs at the moment and feeling rather overwhelmed by how popular it is!

  4. Hi Daphne, Annie and Miss Scarlett,
Thanks for the comments - nice to be in contact. I wondered how many people would get the reference (I also tried to get orangutan brown for the text!)

  5. Hi Sara
Your blog is looking really good. I'm going to follow you cos we may have something in common as I work for a research unit too. I even have the same wide ranging "Librarian and Information Officer" job title like you which made me smile! Library looks a little similar too. Struggling to get my blog looking as I wish, but really glad that the cpd23 is making me tackle lots of things I feel a bit wary of!
